தினமணியின் இணைப்பாக வெளியாகும் வெள்ளிமணியில் ‘காலம் உங்கள் கையில்’ என்ற ஜோதிட கேள்விப் பதில் பகுதியில் கடந்த 13 செப்டம்பர் அன்று வாசகர் ஒருவர் இரு கேள்விகளை கேட்டுள்ளார்.
கொள்ளையர்கள் சிலர் அவரது அத்தை, அத்தை மகள் மற்றும் பேத்தி ஆகிய மூவரையும் வீடு புகுந்து கொன்றுவிட்டு கொள்ளையடித்துச் சென்றுள்ளனர். ஆனால் மூவருக்குமே ஜாதகத்தின்படி 70 வயது வரை ஆயுள் இருப்பதாக ஏற்கெனவே ஜோதிடர்கள் கணித்த பிறகும் அத்தையின் மகளும், பேத்தியும் அதற்கு முன்னரே மரணமடைந்தது ஏன்? ஜோதிடர்களின் கணிப்பு தவறா? மற்றும் ஆயுள் முடிவதற்கு முன்னரே அகால மரணமடைபவர்கள் ஆயுள் முடியும் வரை ஆவி உலகில் சுற்றி துன்பம் அடைவார்களா? அவர்களது ஆன்மா சாந்தி அடைய பரிகாரம் என்ன? என்பது தான் அந்தக் கேள்விகள்.

When we say sunrise, nobody believes that sun rises. It is earth’s rotation that causes the sun to “rise” and “set”.
7 day week is just an existing system of naming days and consolidating in to weeks. Nothing scientific behind it. There is no power related to any planet or day.

Astrology is for stupids. There is no truth in it.
Some simple questions
1. You say 9 planets. But that includes Sun – which is a star, Moon – which is a satellite, Raagu and Ketu which are imaginary snakes used to explain eclipse. So the remaining are just 5 planets(Mercury, Mars, Venus, Jupiter and Saturn). So what happened to Uranus and Neptune? Are they not planets?
2. There are 27 stars in astrology. What about other billions and billions of stars? Why Alpha Centauri which is nearest to Earth (of course after the Sun) is ignored in the list?
3. If a child is born on Moon or Mars, will its horoscope include Earth as a planet?
4. The stars in constellations (12 raasis) are in no way connected by gravity or by other forces. These are just imaginary shapes obtained by connecting random stars in sky. How that can affect one’s life? However modern system have 80+ constellations.
5. How can generalized time zones like IST can be used to calculate the time of birth? For example, West Bengal is at the Eastern corner of India and Gujarat is at the Western corner. So when the Sun rises in Gujarat, that will be some 10 to 15 minutes after sunrise in West Bengal. So the IST is not accurate. Also this needs to account to the mountains and altitude of the place. (places with mountains at East have late sun rises). Hindu astrology is calculated only using sunrise.
6. With the sun rise argument, what will be the case for a child born in polar region? Or on a moving flight?
7. If the vibration/gravity/magnetism/rays etc from planets and stars are influencing our lives, then how can just circling some stone statues or offering some money to priest and chanting some sanskrit words stop such force? If you can stop such cosmic powers by chanting, can you stop man made electric power or gravity of earth by chanting some slogas? Shall we try it in the nearby transformer or building?
8. Is the life, health, education, prosperity etc of people who consult astrologers and do parikaram are collectively any better than those who don’t? If yes what is the stats? If no, why spend money on these wastes?
9. Some say that due to a child’s birth or a man’s marriage to a particular woman, bad luck can come. For example, if a person’s own horoscope tells that he will live for 70 years, how can his daughter-in-law’s horoscope reduce it to 50 years?
10. As a last resort, some astrology belivers tell it is sort of counselling and helps them to take life positively and get hope. My question is, how many false hopes are given like you will surely get a son (and that man will try 6 times before giving up) or like sevai dhosham, which is spoiling thousands of women’s life. The money, burden and stupidity due to astrology should stop.

I really don’t know why people mix up IST / GMT with horoscope. Horoscope uses that but IST / GMT is not for generating horoscope

Sun is a planet (or) star, whatever it’s all according to the theory developed by science. But, in astrology it’s all called as ‘kozhgal’ that’s all
Science is ongoing process, which never hesitates to improve or revert existing ideas when faced with new evidences. Pluto still exists. Only the mass calculations and the size definition of the planet had changes and it was re-classified as a minor planet. It is not like entirely missing two large planets like Uranus and Neptune and not accepting even in face of evidence like astrologers do.
If science is an ongoing process why they produce the evidence stating whatever they found is accurate ?
Please don’t under estimate our ‘Rishis’. Without any instrument (just not like SCIENCE) they discovered all the 7 planets and they even discovered several sub-planes of Saturn.
If novice ‘rishis’ are able to discover why ‘all known’ scientists were not able to discover without any instrument.

Uranus takes 84 years and Nepture takes 150 years to revolve around the sun. A normal human being average is just above 60 years (not guaranteed)

There is no need for instruments. With your naked eye, you can observe planets. Stars rise at same place everyday. Planets’ rising points move from place to place everyday. I still remember from my childhood days, my dad will take me to roof (mottai maadi) and show me the night sky. Stars will rise everyday at same location. We had a hill in east. So we fix some landmarks like rock or tree for certain stars. Stars even after one or two years, rise at the same place. But rising points of planets will move from place to place. Some move fast. Some move slow. But within 3 months you can see that rising points of all planets are moving. Similarly rising points of sun and moon also move. This is what made them declare that sun and moon are also planets. Planet mean planes – aster meaning moving star in Greek.
Not only your rishis. Greeks, Babylonians, Egyptians etc also understood this without any instruments as they are visible to naked eye.

I never forced anyone to accept any god(s). Jesus as a human or Buddha as a human are not imaginary friends. They are revolutionary of their times. Even after them there are many revolutionaries like Ambedkar, Lenin, Periyar. I respect them all. I always like the social aspect of religion. I have said this umpteenth time. I like a religion that unites people and encourages equality and charity. Be it Buddhism or Shamanism. I have certain tastes and that is towards Christianity. I accept that organized religion was a problem. But loosely organized religion of India caused and still causing lot of problems. The problem is not with organizing. It is with for what people are organized and who is guiding them for what motive ultimately matters. If you say organized parties are evil quoting examples of ADMK or BJP and declare that parties should be banned, then you are comfortably forgetting organized men under Lenin who took back their rights and progressed. The feeling of the mother, the status of widow, inability to travel etc are caused by your culture, religion and unwillingness to accept progress of science and rationalism. I didn’t say I wish she will get married. I said, marriage should happen as per the wish of the daughter not as per the wish of an astrologer.
By what means astrology can help in this case? If the mother goes to astrologer and he says your daughter will not get married for 5 years, what will happen? Or else if he says they have to do a poja in some distant temple, what will the mother do? How the mother is going to pay for it?
But rationalism and science can come for the help. They can ignore stupidities like horoscope and caste and just look for a good family. Rationalism is the only thing that advocates equal treatment of women. If the society is rationalist, there will be neither dowry nor stigma attached to widow. So the widow mother will have a better life in a society that is based on science and rationalism than astrology and religion.
I have seen my own mom ill-treated for being widow. One day she was just walking on the street to buy coconut in the morning. A poosari from nearby temple came out of house and said that “mundachi moonjila mulichitten” and went in. My mother cried for entire day. How many times my mom have been asked to wait so that someone else does first business in shops? All these treatments of widows start from your astrology/religion/spirituality. I have seen the pain as a victim. That is why I am against it. I hope you understand without becoming victim.
