ஐ.டி. தம்பதியினர் தற்கொலை: கார்ப்பரேட்டுகளே காரணம் – அரசும் உடந்தை

ஐ.டி துறையில் வேலை நீக்கம் செய்யப்பட்ட தம்பதியினர் தற்கொலை செய்து கொண்டுள்ளனர்.

ஜாக்குலின், ராதாகிருஷ்ணன் தம்பதியினர் தங்களது 6 மாதக் குழந்தையுடன் சென்னை தில்லைகங்கா நகரில் வசித்து வந்தனர். மே 20, 2015 அன்று காலை ராதாகிருஷ்ணன் பழவந்தாங்கல் அருகே ரயிலின் முன் பாய்ந்து தற்கொலை செய்து கொண்டிருக்கிறார். அவரது உடல் போலீசால் மீட்கப்பட்டது. முன்னதாக, ஜாக்குலின் வீட்டில் தூக்கு போட்டுக் கொண்டு இறந்திருக்கிறார். அவர்களது ஆறு மாத குழந்தையை தொட்டிலில் தூங்க வைத்து விட்டு இந்த இளம் தம்பதியினர் இந்த கொடூரமான முடிவை எடுத்திருக்கின்றனர்.

ஜாக்குலின், ராதாகிருஷ்ணன் இருவரும் ஒரே ஐ.டி நிறுவனத்தில் வேலை செய்திருக்கின்றனர். 2 ஆண்டுகளுக்கு முன்பு காதலித்து திருமணம் செய்து கொண்டனர். ராதாகிருஷ்ணன் பணி புரிந்த நிறுவனத்தினால் வெளிநாட்டில் வேலை செய்ய அனுப்பப்பட்டிருக்கிறார். கடந்த ஓராண்டாக ஐ.டி துறையில் அதிகரித்து வரும் ஆட்குறைப்பு நடவடிக்கைகளின் ஒருபகுதியாக, அவர் வெளிநாட்டிலிருந்து திருப்பி அழைக்கப்பட்டு, எந்த வேலையும் கொடுக்கப்படாமல் உட்கார வைக்கப்பட்டிருக்கிறார். சில மாதங்களுக்குப் பிறகு அவரை வேலையை விட்டு நீக்கியிருக்கின்றனர். இதைத் தொடர்ந்து ஜாக்குலினும் வேலை நீக்கம் செய்யப்பட்டிருக்கிறார்.

இது குடும்பத்தில் மிகுந்த பொருளாதார நெருக்கடியையும் மன அழுத்தத்தையும் ஏற்படுத்தியிருக்கிறது. இந்நிலையில் நிகழ்ந்துள்ள இந்தத் துயர சம்பவம் ஐ.டி ஊழியர்களை அதிர்ச்சியில் ஆழ்த்தியிருக்கிறது.

மார்ச் மாதம் இதே போன்று சென்னை பழைய மகாபலிபுரம் சாலையில் 2 ஐ.டி துறை இளைஞர்கள் அப்ரைசல் மன அழுத்தம் தாங்க முடியாமல் எட்டாவது மாடியிலிருந்து குதித்து தற்கொலை செய்து கொண்டனர். இவற்றைப் போன்ற பல தற்கொலைகள் செய்தியாக வெளிவராமல் மூடி மறைக்கப்படுகின்றன.

தற்கொலை எனும் துயரமான முடிவுக்கு ஐ.டி. ஊழியர்கள் செல்ல வேண்டாம் என்றும் வேலை இழப்புகளுக்கு எதிராக போராட முன்வருமாறும் புதிய ஜனநாயக தொழிலாளர் முன்னணியின், ஐ.டி ஊழியர் பிரிவு அவர்களைக் கேட்டுக்கொள்கிறது.

டி.சி.எஸ், சின்டெல் போன்ற ஐ.டி நிறுவனங்கள் சட்டத்திற்கு புறம்பாக கொத்துக் கொத்தாக ஊழியர்களை வேலை நீக்கம் செய்து வருவதையும், அதன் விளைவாக தற்கொலைகள் அதிகரிப்பதையும் அறிந்துள்ள தமிழக அரசு எந்த நடவடிக்கையும் எடுக்காமல் வேடிக்கை பார்த்து வருகிறது.

டி.சி.எஸ். சில் 25 ஆயிரம் பேர் வேலை நீக்கம் செய்யப்பட்டதை எதிர்த்து புதிய ஜனநாயகத் தொழிலாளர் முன்னணியின் ஐ.டி. ஊழியர்கள் பிரிவு சங்கம் தொடுத்த வழக்கில் சென்னை உயர் நீதிமன்றம் பிறப்பித்திருந்த உத்தரவை அமல்படுத்தாமல் தமிழக அரசு தொடர்ந்து அலட்சியப்படுத்தி வருகின்றது.

பணிப்பாதுகாப்பு ஏதுமில்லாததால் இவ்வாறு கொடூரமான முடிவை ஐ.டி. ஊழியர்கள் எடுப்பதற்கு அரசும் துணைபோகின்றது. இதில் போர்க்கால நடவடிக்கையாக உடனடியாக தமிழக அரசு தலையிட்டு, ஐ.டி நிறுவனங்களின் இத்தகைய சட்டவிரோத ஆட்குறைப்பை தடுத்து நிறுத்தி, ஐ.டி நிறுவனங்களுக்கு தொழிலாளர் நலச் சட்டங்கள் அனைத்தும் பொருந்தும் என அறிவிக்குமாறு பு.ஜ.தொ.மு. ஐ.டி. ஊழியர்கள் பிரிவு வலியுறுத்துகிறது.

Out of job, under pressure, young IT couple commit suicide
Corporates are the instigators, state is a mute spectator

A couple who lost their jobs in IT industry recently committed suicide in Chennai.

Radhakrishnan (31) and Jacqueline (28) got married in 2013 and were residing at Thillai Ganga Nagar in Nanganallur. On May 20, 2015 Radhakrishnan ended his life by plunging in front of a speeding train near Pazhavanthangal suburban station. Earlier, Jacqueline killed herself by hanging from the ceiling in their house. The couple have left their 6 months old child sleeping in a cradle and taken this extreme step.

Jacqueline and Radhakrishnan were working in an MNC when they met and married after courting each other, despite belonging to different religions. Radhakrishnan had worked abroad on an assignment by the company. As part of the ongoing layoff activities of several IT companies in the recent past, Radhakrishnan was made to return back from his assignment. He was kept on bench for some time and dismissed from service after a few months. Jacqueline who was an MBA graduate also lost her job.

Loss of jobs, economic hardship and severe mental pressure caused their relationship to sour. The tragic twin suicide by this couple under these circumstance has shocked IT employees.

In March this year, not able to bear the pressure of appraisal process two young IT employees committed suicide in OMR, Chennai. We believe that there are many more suicides of similar nature which are not reported as such.

New Democratic Labour Front – IT Employees Wing appeals to all IT employees to fight against these illegal layoffs and not to take any such extreme step.

The state government is a mute witness to mass layoffs by IT companies like TCS, Syntel which leads to many social issues including mental depression, alcoholism, family breakups and suicides. among IT employees.

In a petition filed by NDLF – IT employees Wing regarding lay off of 25,000 employees by TCS, Madras high court issued an order to Tamil Nadu government to decide whether Industrial Disputes act is applicable to IT employees. The state government has not taken any action on this so far.

Thus, The state is an accessory to these suicides caused by lack of job security, and employee rights in IT industry.

We demand that Tamil Nadu government should take immediate steps to stop illegal layoffs by IT companies and announce that all labour laws are applicable to IT companies.
