Rahman is a middle-class upper caste Indian. It is general knowledge that this section of the community tries to please all and stays out of controversy. I can’t say that to be right or wrong. As an individual, he has many responsiblities.

But he has used his music to spread harmony. He has used his music to show that Islam is not like the west portrays it. He has tried his best to be secular.
He has done his best to remain anonymous, yet give charity.

Right now, there is a crowd around Rahman. But when he falls, all will run and leave. That is what he has said happened to his father. Rahman knows the tricks and trades of the world since age 9. Even those around him, other than his family, he will be able to judge. Including the upper class that wants to use his name and fame to portray themselves and the country.

Great words from Durai Shanmugam. Giving a complete different perspective. But it is quite hard for Rahman or his fans to think that way. I feel Rahman’s music always lacks emotions and sound metallic, artifical with no life and so is the taste of his fans too, so they thinking this way is ruled out.

I greatly appreciate the resitation and it is a real blow to his fans…..

A different view point. If he mentioned anything about the sufferings of Tamil or Muslim people, he would have raised above the average.

He is a talented person, but I don’t think we can argue he is a bad person because he didn’t say anything about that. We don’t know what he is doing silently.

I think we should be cautious when criticizing others. He is not a traitor. But think about all the politicians out there…. they are traitors, they say one thing and do the opposite.

Compared to them, Rahman is a talented guy trying to achieve something personally in a noble way without cheating anyone.

I don’t think most of us would talk about controversial topics in the work place. Its his career. Let the person succeed in his career.

Che, FYI the poem doesn’t criticize Rehman, It criticizes his fans who thinks he is god, It just points out he is just another opportunistic fellow for whom career is more important than people who has supported him in his career…. no wonder his fans too think in same wavelength. That is why when there is bloodshed in Eelam, they celebrate his Oscar… without Eelam tamil diaspora how did his Audio sell overseas? I had a good opinion about Oscar till now. The Oscar lost all the reputation it had, by giving Oscar to an useless movie “slumdog”. Its just an ordinary and third rate movie. Even the music is worse. There are lot of Indian movies which are far better and outstanding than the English movies.

hi guys, I respect your feelings and the justified look towards the OSCAR celeberations where as the way the nation responded even towards the Bombay attack.
Do not forget the basic human psychology is when you laugh the whole world will join with you eben though feels jealous, when you cry you will be left alone.

Why ? Anybody with commonsense will look at the about us page first… Why are you fooling yourself and others. Do you think We don’t know your intentions…. Using a Jargon won’t take you anywhere? There is nothing but s**t in your “blogosphere” We are overwhelmed that atleast there are guys like Vinavu who provides us some quality stuff to read. I too have disagreement with vinavu on some points but I ALSO HAVE A SPINE If I am not happy with something I tell it openly, and fellow viewers give their feedback…I will never ask Vinavu to shut its doors just because I can’t stand it. I do not know wether Vinavu and Suresh are one and the same person. Anyhow he has responded to my reply and therefore I have to respect him. Your logic that Rahman has to say sorry for the genocide {though he would feel bad for the genocide} is Facistic in charecter. Everyone who follows Vinavu would know that you are threatening anyone who differs from you with dire consequence. Or you would respond in filthy language. No proof is necessary.

“இலங்கை தமிழர்களுக்காக நான், வெள்ளை பூக்கள் என்ற பாடலுக்கு ஏற்கனவே இசையமைத்து இருக்கிறேன். இலங்கையில் அமைதி நிலவ வேண்டும் என்று விரும்புகிறேன். அங்கு தமிழ் மக்கள் எவரும் போரினால் சாகக்கூடாது என்று பிரார்த்தனை செய்கிறேன்” என ஏ.ஆர்.ரஹ்மான் தெரிவித்துள்ளார்.
இலங்கையில் தமிழர்கள் சமாதானமாகவும், சுபீட்சமாகவும் வாழ்வதற்கு தேவையான பின்னணி ஏற்படுத்தப்பட வேண்டுமெனவும் அவர் கோரிக்கை விடுத்துள்ளார்.

அண்மையில் நடைபெற்ற ஊடகவியலாளர் மாநாட்டில் பேசும்போதே அவர் இதனைத் தெரிவித்தார். ‘ஸ்லம்டொக் மில்லியனர்’ என்ற திரைப்படத்திற்காக அண்மையில் நடைபெற்ற ஒஸ்கார் விருது வழங்கும் விழாவில் இரண்டு விருதுகளை ஏர்.ஆர்.ரஹ்மான் பெற்றுக் கொண்டார்.

I don’t know why people are supporting Rahmaan on this. When Muthukuamr killed himself we were proud as a Tamilian, When Rahman did not talk about Lankan Genocide we are still proud as a Tamilian, I don’t get this point at all

Why vinavu always take a pro-islam stance? Why there are no articles about terror grooming madarasas? Why there is no outcry about freedom of women in islamic countries?

A church or temple can’t be built in saudi arabia, but here muslims are building thousands of mosques and free to shout five times a day. But the same muslims forbid hindus to use drums (thaara, thappatta, thavil, murasu etc) which are traditional Tamil instruments. I have personally seen how they used gulf money to convert an entire area (colony) to islam and when someone in the next colony died (the dead person is a dalit), these new muslims opposed their funeral vigil with thaarai and thapattai. Is that colony ruled by muslims of India? who are they to make new laws?

Why vinavu is silent about issues like polygamy (palathaaram), child marriage, forced conversion in love marriages etc in islamic community? I am not a hindu. Don’t assume I am a high caste hindu and bash me. I hate all religions. I hate gods. I am a proud atheist.
